German-born Nikolas Resin and New Zealand-born Waiata May Kalma-de Jong returned to southeastern Sicily in 2022 after working across Europe, South Africa, and New Zealand. From their small farm above Chiaramonte Gulfi, they bring a well-traveled perspective to Frappato, Nero d’Avola, and other local varieties.

Kalma practices regenerative agriculture, encouraging biodiversity and soil life while avoiding synthetic treatments. The wines ferment with indigenous yeasts; individual cuvées may use whole clusters, fiberglass, concrete, or old wood, with no fining or filtration and little or no added sulfur.
