Il Signor Kurtz is Marco Durante’s small Umbrian project, named for the central figure in Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness. After more than twenty-five years exploring wine as a drinker, taster, and writer, Marco turned fully to farming and cellar work near Lake Trasimeno.

Marco frames each wine as a response to the vintage, grapes, and spontaneous fermentation rather than a fixed recipe. A specialist importer reports neutral-vessel aging with no added sulfur, filtration, or fining; no organic or biodynamic certification is documented.
